February 2011 Julianna Crowder held her first Girl's Night Out, a casual, unintimidating gathering at the range focusing on fun and safe shooting followed by "girl talk" over dinner. Using this simple format, she has brought thousands of women into the shooting community via A Girl and A Gun Women's Shooting League. She is a passionate speaker on women's issues as gun owners, everyday carry, 2nd Amendment topics, action shooting sports, and firearms education. In her 11 year career as a firearms instructor over 9000 students have attended her course for Texas License to Carry. she joined the NRA Education and Training Committee for 2015 & 2016.
In 2004 I developed an interest in competitive shooting, hunting and self defense with the encourage of my husband. It has become a passion to teach safe and proper handling of firearms, self defense education and the fun of recreational shooting sports.
What began as a business opportunity has become a quest! Before I took my first concealed handgun license class I didn't worry too much about my personal safety, never thought anything bad would ever happen to me and if it did there would be a "Superhero" to save me. Fortunately nothing bad has happened to me, and I have become my own "Superhero" by taking an active role in my personal safety which has improved my odds of not being the target of a random violent crime.
My goal is to inspire other citizens to take control of their personal safety. It is not just about getting a license to carry a gun, it is about knowing how to safety use the firearms and for the appropriate reasons. Through my own process of learning these skills, I understand that having a gun is only one tool in my tool box. I have been asked if I am paranoid, my answer is no. I am just taking control of my personal safety. No one else can do that for me, I have to be able to survive if that horrible moment ever occurs where I am the target of a crime. Having these skills will help me.
I have been blessed with flexibility in my schedule to travel around the country teaching classes, taking classes, working matches, shooting matches and launching chapters of A Girl and A Gun Women's Shooting League and creating industry leading events for women and girls!
I have a very strong passion for teaching and sharing my knowledge with others who are or desire to be responsible and safe citizens. Although offering classes for women in the shooting sports and carrying guns for self protection became my focus in 2014, I have taught over 10,000 men, women and children in my 18 years in the firearms industry.
